The Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation has presented the programme for the LIFE Victoria Festival 25–26, which will feature nearly twenty recitals held at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site between September 2025 and May 2026.
After a year dedicated to celebrating the centenary of Victoria de los Ángeles (1923–2005), the Festival continues to honour her as a universal artist, pioneering woman, and cultural icon of the country. This new edition proposes a sound journey through the many facets of the soprano, with recitals that engage in dialogue with her legacy and with works that, even if she never performed them, form part of her artistic essence.
The opening recital will take place on 30 September with Combat between Fortune and Virtue, performed by sopranos Rita Morais and Irene Mas Salom, accompanied by Malcolm Martineau. The programme includes prominent artists such as Ian Bostridge, Julius Drake, Sabina Puértolas, Jakub Józef Orliński, Simon Keenlyside, and Elsa Dreisig, as well as young talents from the LIFE New Artists programme.
In addition, the Festival will premiere the song cycle Combat del somni by resident composer Joan Magrané, inspired by Mompou and Janés, to be performed on 26 March 2026. Each recital will be dedicated to one of Victoria de los Ángeles’ artistic dimensions, with musical journeys including Mozart, Schubert, Mahler, Debussy, and Strauss.
