The rehabilitation and consolidation of the cover, dome, terraces, water tower and facades of the La Purísima Pavilion, started in June 2022, have a new grant of €200,000 from the call for grants for the execution of restoration works and consolidation of buildings of notable cultural value awarded by the Cultural Initiative Support Office (OSIC) of the Department of Culture of the Generalidad de Catalunya.
The most outstanding performance of this integral reform of the exterior parts of the building will be the consolidation and rehabilitation of the main dome. The project also includes the demolition of non-original volumes and the recovery of ornamental elements removed over the years.
This work has been budgeted at €2,762,643 and is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2023. The project also has a grant of €1,274,610 from the 2019 call for the 1.5% Cultural program, promoted by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. The rest of the funding will be provided by the Fundación Hospital de la Santa Cruz y San Pablo.
In 2009, after the transfer of health care to the new Hospital, the rehabilitation of the 12 modernist pavilions listed as World Heritage by UNESCO began. Of the 12 planned buildings, until 2023, 8 have been rehabilitated (Administrative Pavilion, Santa Apolonia, San Jorge, San Leopoldo, Casa de Operaciones, La Mercè, San Manuel and San Salvador).
