Mild und Leise

“Every time I go to the theater, I cry from beginning to end, because of this great love of the two lovers” and that is why Victoria de los Ángeles chose Liebestod without hesitation in the interview they gave her in the program Desert Island Records in 1978 on the BBC. This fascination for Tristan und Isolde manifested by Victoria inspires this program with a great Wagnerian of the moment such as Elena Pankratova accompanied by Joseph Breinl, directed by Marc Busquets in this scenic salon proposal that will further enhance the modernism of Sala Domènech i Montaner. A Wagnerian living room atmosphere inspired by the beginnings of Tristan himself in Wahnfried, the home of Richard and Cósima Wagner in Bayreuth. As the opening day of 2024 we propose this impossible dialogue of Victoria with Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, a composer whose works he interpreted several titles, such as Lohengrin, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg or Tannhäuser, being conducted in the latter by Wieland Wagner, grandson of the composer, in Bayreuth, becoming to this day the only Spanish soprano who has sung on the green hill.
