Letters to a young poet
In 1978, when Victoria was asked on the BBC which book she would take to a desert island, she answered without hesitation Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke. “Would you read it in German?” asks the interviewer “I would love to know so much but I have a version in German and Spanish,” she replies. The pianist Marta Puig, during her residency at LIFE Victoria 2023-24, offers us, together with Josep Maria Flotats, this dialogue between Rilke’s poetry and music, with which the poet maintained a tortuous relationship throughout the his life He began by denying it but ended up completely surrendering to this art after Bussoni introduced it.
