ACTIVITIES
LIFE Victoria: Alice Coote & Julius Drake
Wednesday, 18 March de 2026 20:00h
The mezzo-soprano Alice Coote, in her debut at LIFE Victoria, has set out to challenge time together with Julius Drake at the piano. To do so, they present a programme that defies any kind of temporal or aesthetic convention, placing them at its service. The result is one that leaves no one indifferent, ranging from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Richard Wagner and from Elvis Costello to John Lennon, passing through Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Kurt Weill, Joni Mitchell, David Bowie and Hugo Wolf.
A sonic kaleidoscope in which each piece takes on a new identity as it is linked to the next, leaping across centuries from song to song and thereby giving new meanings to these works, some of them very well known. The Rebellious Recital, as Coote and Drake — creators of this proposal — have called it, received an outstanding welcome at Wigmore Hall, where it was first presented, and now arrives in Barcelona at LIFE Victoria.
