Mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston will present a solo recital in front of the Barcelona audience following her debut at the Liceu as Sesto in *Giulio Cesare*. Together with Sholto Kynoch, one of LIFE Victoria’s regular pianists and director of the Oxford International Song Festival, they offer a programme of songs ranging from the cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach and madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi to new compositions by Anna Semple and Jake Heggie, as well as French mélodie by Reynaldo Hahn and Maurice Ravel, and Lieder by Franz Schubert, with a nod to Frederic Mompou and his French-influenced work. In the second half, her rendition of Robert Schumann’s *Kerner Lieder*, particularly the moving *Stille Träne*, is sure to leave an impression. One of LIFE Victoria’s most special debuts.
