Freedom? Freedom!
“Freedom? Freedom!” is the name of the program that Günther Groissböck and Julius Drake, forming a dream duo, have offered in major German and international auditoriums, such as Wigmore Hall. Shortly after the pandemic, the bass began to reflect on this increasingly relevant topic, as he himself has acknowledged in some interviews. Freedom, this concept that currently loses its value depending on who says it, is a precious good and unfortunately far from being evident. This program could not be more timely or necessary at this moment, and it covers a wide spectrum of perspectives, thoughts, and liberal facets, from Schubert’s songs about the gods Prometheus and Ganymede to Mahler’s sublime Urlicht or Strauss’s monumental Befreit.
