LIFE Victoria: Songs of many lands

Saturday 10 October - 20:00

Songs of Many Lands is the name of the album recorded in 1976 by Victoria de los Ángeles and Geoffrey Parsons. In it, the two artistes present a selection of songs from around the world: from Hahn’s exquisite and ethereal Si mes vers avaient des ailes! to La rosa y el sauce by Guastavino, from the traditional English Blow the Wind Southerly (arranged by Gerald Moore) to Halffter’s Ai que linda moça

An eclectic and dazzling mixed bag of the different repertoires that Victoria tackled so successfully in her recitals, which has inspired Helena Ressurreição for the central recital of her arts residency this year. Closely linked to the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation since her debut at the Festival in 2017, the Portuguese mezzo-soprano pays her personal tribute to the Catalan soprano.
