Back Recital Marta Puig Life Victoria

LIFE Victoria: The Daily Journey

Friday 23 October - 19:00

With this programme, the pianist Marta Puig invites us on the inner journey of our daily lives, with their everyday and extraordinary events, and everything that surrounds us in our day-to-day reality. In other words, an artistic journey through the sensibility of the eyes that see this reality—in this programme, three composers from very different backgrounds and experiences: Leoš Janáček, Frederic Mompou and Frederic Chopin.

Piano Sonata I-X-1905, From the Street by Janáček presents us with a dramatic sonata about an attack on the University of Brno that killed a young carpenter. It is followed by Suburbis, Mompou’s look at a less visible Barcelona of the early twentieth century, that of the suburbs, far from the Eixample and the townhouses of Sant Gervasi. Chopin, meanwhile, addresses the ultimate daily inner journey: the nostalgia and pathos of everyday life.
