Architecture that Cures: Hygienism in the Design of Sant Pau

At the start of the twentieth century, when Domènech i Montaner designed the project for the construction of Sant Pau, hygienist principles prevailed in Europe. This was apparent in the architect’s original project, both in the number of square metres required by each patient, and in the importance of natural light and the materials used.
